Haryana Mob Lynching: Police Confirm Meat Sample from Migrant Worker’s Home is Not Beef
Chandigarh: In a significant development two months after a West Bengal migrant worker was allegedly beaten to death in Haryana over suspicions of beef consumption, police announced on Saturday that laboratory tests confirmed the meat in question was not beef.
The victim, Sabir Malik, a rag picker residing in a shanty in Hansawas Khurd village, was assaulted by a group of individuals who suspected him of consuming beef. Reports indicate that on August 27, the assailants lured Malik to a shop under the guise of selling empty plastic bottles before launching an attack on him. Despite attempts by bystanders to intervene, the attackers reportedly relocated Malik to another location where they continued to beat him.
So far, ten individuals have been arrested in connection with Malik’s death. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Bhushan from Badhra (Charkhi Dadri) stated that the meat sample collected from Malik’s residence was sent to a laboratory in Faridabad for analysis, and the results have confirmed it was not beef.
"We will soon file the challan in court along with the laboratory report," Bhushan confirmed. A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
