Indian Schools Shine at the World's Best School Prizes 2024

In a remarkable achievement, three Indian schools—Ryan International School in Delhi, CM RISE School Vinoba in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, and Kalvi International Public School in Madurai, Tamil Nadu—have been honored with the prestigious World's Best School Prizes 2024 for their innovation and positive impact on their communities. This year marks a record for Indian schools, with two of them each set to receive a prize of USD 10,000.

Ryan International School, located in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, has been recognized in the Environmental Action category. CM RISE School Vinoba, a state-run institution catering to kindergarten through secondary students, won the Innovation category. These awards are presented by T4 Education in collaboration with Accenture, American Express, and the Lemann Foundation.

Jill Huntley, Managing Director of Global Corporate Citizenship at Accenture, remarked, “Your innovative solutions will inspire countless others around the world to take the necessary actions to safeguard our planet’s future.”

Kalvi International Public School earned the Community Choice Award by garnering the most votes among the 50 schools shortlisted for the prize in a public voting process. This accolade includes membership in T4 Education's Best School to Work program, which is aimed at helping schools attract and retain exceptional teachers by fostering positive working environments.

Vikas Pota, Founder of T4 Education and the World's Best School Prizes, expressed pride in India's achievement, stating, “For India to have not one but three schools triumph demonstrates that our institutions truly rank among the best globally. I hope this recognition inspires governments to learn from your outstanding examples of what can be accomplished when schools prioritize excellence and address significant societal challenges.”

CM RISE School Vinoba, initially established to educate tribal girls in an urban slum community hesitant to embrace formal education, was lauded for its innovative practices, which include integrating local festivals into the curriculum and organizing early morning sports sessions. The school plans to invest its prize money in expanding its Learning and Development Lab.

Ryan International School in Delhi was celebrated for its initiatives to combat water scarcity and pollution through innovative projects like hydroponics and biogas plants. The school intends to utilize its prize funds to enhance its green technologies and establish a start-up incubator for student-led environmental initiatives.

Other winners at the World's Best School Prizes 2024 include Colegio Maria de Guadalupe in Argentina, recognized for Community Collaboration; Istituto Galilei-Costa-Scarambone in Italy, awarded for Supporting Healthy Lives; and the First Ukrainian School in Poland, honored in the Overcoming Adversity category by an expert Judging Academy.
