Kanpur Missing Woman Case Solved After 4 Months: Gym Trainer Arrested for Murder Following Heated Argument
Four months after Ekta, a Kanpur resident, was reported missing, police have arrested a gym trainer in connection with her murder. Her body was discovered in a government club premises near the District Magistrate's residence, following the suspect's confession.
The victim, Ekta, had been missing since June 24, with her husband initially reporting her disappearance as a kidnapping involving the trainer, Vimal. The investigation took a significant turn when police apprehended Vimal. Initially, he misled authorities with fabricated accounts of Ekta's whereabouts, claiming she had traveled to Kashmir and Punjab. However, under persistent questioning, he admitted to the crime and revealed the location of her burial.
According to DCP East, Shravan Kumar Singh, Ekta frequently attended training sessions at Vimal's gym. During one session, a heated argument erupted, allegedly leading Vimal to murder her in a fit of rage. He subsequently buried her body on the government club premises, attempting to conceal his actions. Following his confession, police secured the site and carried out an overnight excavation to recover Ekta's remains.
The case highlights the critical role of sustained investigation and interrogation, ultimately leading to justice for the victim after months of uncertainty and grief for her family.
