Swiggy Introduces International Logins for Food Delivery in India

Swiggy has launched an innovative feature enabling users from 27 countries—including the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia, and the UAE—to order food and products through its quick commerce service, Instamart, or book restaurant tables for their family and friends in India.

Beginning October 25, 2024, international users will be able to log in using their local phone numbers and make payments with international credit cards or available UPI options. This new functionality provides access to various services such as food delivery, Dineout, Genie, and Instamart, as Swiggy aims to strengthen connections during the festive season.

“Food and gifts play a vital role in family gatherings, particularly during festivals,” stated Phani Kishan, Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of Swiggy. “With the International Login feature, those living abroad can now surprise their loved ones on special occasions.”

This highly anticipated feature, requested by non-resident Indians (NRIs), also introduces a new gifting layout, making it easier to send festive gifts or secure dinner reservations back home.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Bengaluru, Swiggy partners with nearly 200,000 restaurants across over 600 cities in India. Its Instamart service operates in 43 cities, delivering groceries and essentials in approximately 10 minutes across more than 20 categories.

In unrelated news, Swiggy has recently filed draft papers for a ₹3,750 crore Initial Public Offering (IPO) as of September 26, 2024. This IPO consists of a fresh issue of 37.5 million equity shares with a face value of ₹1 each, along with an offer for sale (OFS) of 185,286,265 equity shares. However, the company has reportedly adjusted its valuation estimates for the upcoming IPO downward by 10-16% due to market volatility, according to reports from Reuters.
